2023 Independence Bank WKY Jr Championship: Results and Recap

PADUCAH, KY (May 14, 2023) – The 2023 Independence Bank Western Kentucky Junior Championship concluded this past weekend on Mother’s Day. All moms were invited to spend the day caddying for their child. Trey Wall and CeCelia Ray won their respective divisions and took home the belts (as pictured).

The Kentucky Junior PGA Tour would like to extend its thanks to Kevin Kauffeld with Independence Bank for their support and excitement geared towards junior golf and this event. Independence Bank and Kauffeld made Mother’s Day a very special day providing every player with a bouquet of flowers to give to their mother.

Wall entered the final round in the Boys 16-18 Division tied with Benton, IL native River Stilley after both firing a solid even par 72. Stilley battled to the end with three birdies in his last four holes to shoot a final round of 73. However, Benton, KY native Trey Wall was able to hold on and claim the victory with another round of even par - 72.   

CeCelia Ray dominated in the Girls 16-18 Division taking home the hardware. After concluding the first round in the dark, Ray, a Calvert City native, was able to hold on to her lead and won by 14 shots.

Five other players won their respective divisions in the younger ages, beginning with Landon Hunt in the Boys 13-15 Division. In the Boys 11-12 Division Peyton Courtney took home the win. The Boys 10 & Under saw an exciting finish on Sunday with Max DeHaven and Mason Brown in a one hole playoff. Brown led after the first round shooting a 43. Hardinsburg, KY native Max DeHaven was able to claw his way back to the top after firing a 43 in the final round and winning in a playoff with Brown which concluded at the 18th hole. This victory is DeHaven’s 4th victory on the tour this season.

Mary Clayton Rodgers took home her 5th victory of the 2023 season over the weekend after firing a +2- 38 in the final round. Parker Haddix led going into Sunday after shooting an impressive +1 round of 37. Kylie Miller also took home the victory in the Girls 9 & Under Division.
