PGA Junior League Championship Preview

Kentucky’s finest PGA Junior League teams are set to face off this weekend in the PGA Junior League Kentucky Section Championship at Quail Chase Golf Course in Louisville. Following an exciting summer at golf courses across the state that have provided great competition while simultaneously growing children’s interest in golf, the stage is now set for a team to take the crown as 2019’s top team in Kentucky.

“The PGA Junior League Championship is one of the most fun and exciting tournaments we contest,” Brad Martin, Director of Operations for Golf House Kentucky said. “We are all looking forward to welcoming junior golfers, their captains and their families from all across Kentucky in this exceptional event.”

The competition will consist of head-to-head matchups beginning Saturday morning that will conclude Sunday afternoon. In total, 18 teams will compete at Quail Chase. Each participating team and their captain is as follows:

  • Bluegrass/Man O’ War Golf – Glenn Garnett, PGA
  • Bowling Green/The Club at Olde Stone – Chad Douglas, PGA
  • Central Kentucky/Elizabethtown Country Club – Corey Stith, PGA
  • Derby City/Louisville Country Club – Scott Sedgwick, PGA
  • Greater Shelbyville/Weissinger Hills Golf Course – Bryan Slone, PGA
  • Greenbrier Golf & Country Club – Brian Moore
  • High Performance Golf Academy – Megan Kinney
  • Lexington/Man O’ War Golf – Glenn Garnett, PGA
  • Louisville 1/Nevel Meade Golf Course – Robert Costello, PGA
  • Louisville 3/Woodhaven Country Club – Jesse Massie
  • Louisville 4/Quail Chase Golf Course – Tim Reeves, PGA
  • Northern Kentucky/Lassing Pointe Golf Course – Russ Gartner, PGA
  • Owensboro/Ben Hawes Golf Course – Charles Whelan, PGA
  • Richmond & Winchester 1/Gibson Bay Golf Course – Jason Eberle, PGA
  • Richmond & Winchester 2/Gibson Bay Golf Course – Jason Eberle, PGA
  • River City Sluggers/Lake Forest Country Club – John Bachman, PGA
  • Triple Crown – John Kells, PGA
  • Western Kentucky/Drake Creek – Todd Butts, PGA

The winning team this weekend will advance to the PGA Junior League Regional Championship which will be held at Olive Branch Country Club in Olive Branch, Mississippi on September 21-22. The winning team there will then advance to the PGA Junior League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 11-14.
