Previewing the Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur

BARDSTOWN, KY (June 23, 2021) – The second major championship for the ladies and young boys of the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour is prepared for launch tomorrow. The Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur will take place at Bardstown Country Club, with the Tour’s 9-hole and 6-hole boys also set to compete in one of the most prestigious junior tournaments of the season.

The Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur features a stacked list of champions that includes the likes of Delia Gibbs, Laney Frye, Rylea Marcum, Ke’Asha Phillips, and Lydia Gumm, who all won this trophy at least once in the past decade. For whoever is the next player to add her name to that list of winners, she will also receive two AJGA stars and bolster her placement in the Global Junior Golf Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard. 300 points in the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour’s Player of the Year standings are also available to the winner, which could go a long way in determining the top player of 2021.

Some of the notable players in the Girls 15-18 Division competing for these perks include the following players:

  • Macie Brown – Brown is one of the three players who earned an exemption into the National Girls Junior PGA Championship earlier this month at The University Club at Arlington. By finishing in third place in Richmond, she will compete at Valhalla Golf Club just over a month from now in that worldwide competition. She looks to add her second major title on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour this week before taking the stage at Valhalla.
  • Madison Hudson – Hudson was awarded with the Justin Thomas Grant this spring which resulted in her and her family receiving $3,000 to play tournament golf nationwide to help her fulfill her dream of playing college golf. A major title in Bardstown would be a great note on her resume to help make that happen.
  • Casey Powell – A top-five finisher in the Kentucky Girls Junior PGA Championship earlier this month and the winner of the second-most recent major championship, the Lou Perry Tour Championship last October. This tournament represents one of her final Kentucky Junior Golf starts before she heads to college at Jacksonville University.
  • Claira Beth Ramsey – She turned in the round of the week in the Kentucky Girls Junior PGA Championship, a final day 70 (-2), which vaulted Ramsey up the leaderboard in that tournament for an eventual runner-up finish. Like Brown, that locked her into a spot at next month’s National Girls Junior PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.
  • Athena Singh – The Drive, Chip & Putt National Finalist from April is two-for-two with victories on Tour this season, having won both the Spring Classic at Juniper Hill Golf Course and the Summer Preview at Seneca Golf Course. Three-for-three, with a major championship included, is on the line for Singh this week.

Kentucky Junior Golf will have full coverage of the championship on its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. Additionally, the final hole of the final group in the Girls 15-18 Division on Friday will be live-streamed on Facebook as will any playoff holes necessary in determining the champion of that division.
