Top 10 Photos of the 2020 Season

The Top 10 photos from this year's junior campaign is a bit short-changed from what it normally would be. In any other year, photos from Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifiers plus PGA Jr. League playoffs would be featured. The coronavirus prevented those from happening though, so this year's photos come entirely from Kentucky PGA Junior Tour competition - which fortunately was able to take place, even if it was three months later than planned. Nearly 30 tournaments this season led to some great photographs from our team. The photos you'll see below come from Joe Davis, our media intern this past summer, Ethan Fisher, PGA, the Director of Communications & Marketing at Golf House Kentucky, and Dennis George, one of our organization's rules officials. The story and/or thoughts behind each photo come from Ethan. Enjoy!

This was a great family moment I was able to capture during the final round of the Lou Perry Tour Championship. Sunny Pal (L) finished his 18-hole round in the morning and then went back on the golf course to caddie for Krish Kumar (R) who was playing a 6-hole round. This moment came after Krish finished up his final hole and the two of them embraced. If I remember correctly, Sunny was telling him he did a great job and pumping up his man. A very wholesome moment.

An aesthetically pleasing bunker shot from the Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur at Boone's Trace National Golf Club. Model execution from Cooper Eberle here, plus a great look at how sand reacts after an explosion shot like this one.

When I first took this photo, I instantly knew it would be one of our signature photos of the season. Emlie Miller and her dad are pictured here on the 5th hole of the University Club at Arlington during the opening round of the Kentucky Girls Junior PGA Championship. Emlie is one of the sweetest young ladies in our program and extremely photogenic, so would it surprise you if she made another appearance on this list?

There she is again! Just as promised, this time with her mom during the Fall Series Championship at University Club of Kentucky. A nice little fist bump between the two ladies after Emlie struck a great shot. The smiles from both subjects here are top-notch.

More fist bumps! This photo courtesy of Dennis during the Adult-Child at Bardstown Country Club. A model photo of great teamwork and execution.

There's a lot to uncover from this photo. The simple factor on the surface it is that the second round of the Lou Perry Tour Championship was very chilly, especially in the morning. The sun didn't peek out much that day, but it did at the very beginning and authored up a classic sunrise from the horse capital of the world (more specifically University Club of Kentucky). Symbolically, this was the dawn of the season's last tournament. 2020 has been rotten, but this moment seemed like a sign from above that everything is going to be all right, and even in tough times, there are always beautiful things to uncover and enjoy. Additionally, I think it's very possible that up in the heavens, Mr. Perry was looking down on this tournament (the first time it being named in his honor) and smiling at the fact nearly 140 kids were enjoying the game of golf, just as he wanted before he passed away.

Joe captured this moment during one of our Fall Series events in August. What a contagious instance of wanting to go hit golf shots upon seeing this photo. The amount of wonder and joy brought about just by hitting a golf shot is perfectly encapsulated here.

When I got this photo during the Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur, I immediately put it on our Instagram story with the caption "When mom makes pizza rolls." More than anything, this photo is just a big mood. We are here for it.

Another one from Joe, this one capturing Redick Johnson and his dad just before they read a putt. We're not sure what it is they're looking at, maybe the golf ball was scuffed or the Sharpie line was a little crooked? Either way, it's a hysterical moment. It also represents just how well-dressed Redick always is. Maybe the strongest fashion game in the program.

We're cheating a little bit with the top photo(s) of the year here by using three instead of one, but this came from Dennis' camera early in the season. There is no feeling quite like making a putt when you absolutely have to make it. The ecstasy of that feeling is modeled here and these are the moments it's all about. We're fortunate to be able to host moments like these, especially in a year like 2020. Let's hope there are many more moments like this one in 2021 and beyond.
